£14 billion of new funding for Sizewell. Takes total taxpayer contribution to £18 billion. Will take at least a decade to build. No one can accuse chancellor of going after short term thinking in this spending review.

I play the odd game of scrabble/chess etc on my phone and get these brief ads come up - what’s weird is that they all have this low production value type feel like they were made by amateurs and are very similar. Temu/Royal Match etc. what’s that all about?

Glad you liked it. Some belters coming up in series 3!
Another brilliant podcast, I heard the Peter Thiel one by accident and loved it, went back to the beginning of the series and working my way through - fascinating and great presenters. Running theme is morality of philanthropy in a democracy - morality full stop.

Merry Christmas. Have you tried Tradle. You have to guess a country by looking the brekdown of its exports. A lot of fun. Really.

My wife has one of those apps which can switch heating on or off which I don’t have access to. I texted her to ask if she would put heating on as she’s out. One word answer - NO!

It’s been one of the greatest pleasures and privileges of my professional life to work with Mishal Hussain. We - colleagues and listeners - will miss her so much. It’s impossible to overstate how admired she is by both.
I have no words.
Mishal Hussain is a broadcasting legend and a dear friend.
I wish her all the very best for the future.

Daughter said. “I think I’m going to be a parent like you guys because I’ve turned out pretty well. I could be a lot worse” is there any higher praise? I’ll take that - although realise at risk of coming across smug and complacent.
