I'm also terribly proud that people who go on as guests of the World Service, or who listen, might hopefully come to associate Britain with its output: curious, gentle, fair, expansive. I hate all that 'soft power' bollocks, but it's a tremendously good shop window for a country.

@helenebismarck.bsky.social aside from the mad conspiracies they then promote, it’s also a really horrible way of looking at the world. As you usually have to believe large numbers of people are intent to do evil.
