TACO is upset because now the leaders of Israel and Iran didn’t do what he told them too just like Putin didn’t. Is anyone doing what TACO says ?

Since when were truth social and Twitter integrated ? I mean apparently Elon is sending posts to Trump from one and Trump sending back from the other. Well best friends anyway.

It was not tyrannical enough in 2020, now it definitely is. When will the NRA start acting?

Weeks ago I highlighted the false balance of “if only scientists could communicate better”.

One OpEd writer kindly reached out to me and I want to share my main response to them because I find it remarkable that people still can’t see what we are now all seeing has been under way for years.

This is a good thread. As someone who has *always* done politicized work as a STEM researcher, I can attest to everything here. For some of us, we've learned this lesson already - for everyone else, time to lock in and speak up.

I cannot understand why my senators, Budd & Tillis, think it would be good for the health & wellbeing of North Carolinians, and for the NC economy, to shut down critical health research at hospitals & universities here in the Research Triangle
An important reminder that engaging with your state level reps is just as important as engaging with the federal level. 🧪🛟 #nih
Good to see my state (NC) among the 22

The proposed draconian cuts to essential health research would have a devastating impact on medical schools, nursing schools, & universities, including here in the NC Research Triangle (NC State, NCCU, Duke, UNC at Chapel Hill, & others)

The problem is not that scientists are not communicating well. It’s that they are under attack by interests who do not care about truth or the messy reality of the scientific enterprise. The truth is complicated and nuanced. The lies are bold and simple. This is not a fair fight.

Anyone here that made the mistake of voting for Trump in 2024 prepared to admit it ? I made the mistake once in 2016 but frankly in 2016 it was excusable.

Sources tell me CDC's response to the bird flu pandemic has been severely hobbled by the chaos of the past two weeks.

The more I think about this, the funnier it gets.

Imagine proclaiming that academia is broken and journals are dead, but your new model is just getting a bunch of your mates to publish their garbage preprints that no one else will accept in exchange for $1000 a pop.
There's "being wrong in early in a pandemic" wrong and then there's "doubling down over and over again until you find yourself in bed with RFK Jr. and founding a whole-ass journal to discredit all of academic publishing along with all of medicine" wrong.

I managed a #vaccine clinical trial during #COVID-19. Bhattacharya and Kuldorff's piece would never have gotten published in any other journal. They simply don't know what they are talking about.
The "Journal of the Academy of Public Health" launched today.

Here are some fun notes about it's public health contrarian board members:

- Co-founded by Jay Bhattacharya
- Claims to reduce barriers to publication, but its members only - only current members can invite new members.

Scientists can publish anything they want, under the condition that:
1) Their methods are sound
2) Their data is obtained in an ethical way
3) Their conclusions are supported by the data shown

This claim is total BS to pretend there is censorship and undermine science. Despicable.

SCOOP: Many of the pages that went missing on Friday from the CDC website on Friday have reappeared — in response to intense media coverage, backlash from the scientific community and concern for the public’s health.
