I remember years ago (about 2008/9) when question time brought the fascist, Nick Griffin, onto the show. I think they had a large uptick in viewers but for me it felt that this was the point they started chasing controversial characters on the far right for clicks and views.

Yea, but let's talk about wealth inequality instead, because we all know it isn't about teeth any more than it is about trans people using bathrooms. It's a game of smoke and mirrors to avoid talking about wealthy people like Clarkson paying their fair share in tax.

The Australian model is the way to go. Compulsory voting (very high voter turnout), preferential voting and an independent electoral commission.
