Near Loch Doon, I came across this small section of forest, apparently dead, but surrounded by trees which looked healthy. I have no idea as to the cause. It was quite eerie.

Loch Doon Castle. A fascinating ruin in an isolated setting. Built in the C13, but on the island in pictur three. When the loch level was raised in the 1930s, it was dismantled stone by stone and rebuilt in its present position.
