Gliophorus psittacinus - Parrot Waxcap for Mushroom Monday. Love the way these so often blend in with their surroundings so well you can hardly find them until their age gives them away #FungiFriends #Fungi #Mushrooms #UKWildlife #Naturalist #Mycology #Nature #Naturalist

Cotswold grazed grassland was where I saw this chunky little Cordyceps militaris recently #Fungi #Mushrooms #Mycology #UKNaturalist #Wildlife #FungiFriends

Nice, there is a white form of H. calyptriformis which these might be, alternatively Cuphophyllus fornicatus can look a bit like this when young as in this image

Monday #Mushroom added to the English list last week and one to look out for at the moment, Clavaria calabrica. Looking a bit like Clavaria fumosa but with “dividing fingers”, the texture is more wax crayon like than C. fumosa. #FungiFriends #Naturalist #Mycology #Fungi #UKWildlife

Harebell in the mist on Minchinhampton Common today
Early submission for #WildflowerHour as I’ll be busy later

Think this is Clustered Bellflower - Campanula glomerata I saw yesterday, not large plants, not much clustering going on… and quite late in the year. Not recorded in the area for a while #WildflowerHour sorry it’s a bit late 😀 Oh and a late Autumn Gentian from Minchinhampton last wk (diff location).

Had a very blowy return from a trip to Croatia yesterday.. then the Uber had a blow out in heavy rain on the M56 which took 2 hours to fix… but it was worth it all 😂

Entoloma neglectum from a Cotswold Common. There are around 17 British records including duplicates since 1800 to date so this sequenced find is quite rare #Fungifriends #Fungi #Mycology #Nature #UKWildlife

Finally got around to sequencing a Big Blue Pinkgill from Bodmin 2018 which revealed it as Entoloma madidum. One of the rarer species in the E. bloxamii group.

5:22am this morning and the bats were still over my wildlife garden. (Obligatory rescue cat demanding food as they do).

Beautiful! I had stewed Cherry Plums on the weekend and saved them frozen as ice cubes. Think I’ll make a drink flavour, maybe vodka, maybe gin 👌🏼

It’s lovely to see the fruits of your labour and in this case it’s Cherry Plums from some of the hundreds I planted out in hedgerows over the last six years

It’s so full of insects you can hear it buzz. Knapweed is such an important plant for many species. I feel bad for it as it gets a raw deal being a late flowerer, it’s often chopped before it’s in its prime 🙈
