SilverSat is a community based non-profit for students in grades 6-12 in Silver Spring, Maryland with a mission of building and launching a CubeSat to promote awareness of space exploration through educational outreach.

We're up! We were floated free into orbit early this morning from the ISS and our student-led team has already made first contact via ground-based radio, so, yay!

The hard work of building our little #cubesat is done and now it's launched. Some of the middle and high schoolers who made it happen are now in college or even out in the working world, and we're all watching to see if it makes it into orbit safely to tweet pictures to order from space!

We made it into space! Eight years after the first middle and high school kids signed on to build a #cubesat, #NASA included us in a resupply package headed to the International Space Station this week. We hope to tweet from orbit come November - silversat.org for details.
