Summary:
Satoru was curious by nature. He enjoyed exploring the unknown and learning random facts about anything that he could get his paws on. So it was no surprise that he was curious about Suguru's secretive second bedroom. He's never been inside, despite multiple attempts trying to escape the keen vulpine nose of Suguru's. So he bides his time, until one night, an emergency has Suguru leaving the apartment, leaving Satoru all alone with that unopened door for an undetermined amount of time.

Summary:
On his first day at school in a new city, Suguru finds himself pulled in by a rude snow leopard who loudly corrects the teacher on his name. The snow leopard takes an interest in Suguru as well; the rest is history. Over time, Suguru begins collecting photographs that hold a special place in his heart and feels that Satoru had always been there, too.

an au in which satoru saves a kitsune suguru (or, natsu, for now, until ~later~) from a horrid condition and then it all spirals from there 🤭 willing to yap about thks a lot... #五夏

Six tails. Hell. Natsu's expression remained flat, and Satoru felt a bit insane. Was he actually helping a Kitsune right now? They were still classed as kemonimi, but if his owners had known that they had a Kitsune, they wouldn't have hired him. Kitsune were rare—

Natsu stood, giving Satoru a good view of his whole body. Lithe, with beautiful black and white fur covering his whole body. Shockingly, he was nearly as tall as Satoru was, that thin snout landing right at Satoru's shoulders. The six, large, beautiful tails fanned out around the beast, creating a far larger, more menacing frame. They nearly glowed with power—ahah, Satoru had good eyes, but to see magic was something else entirely.

Clearing his throat, Satoru lowered his voice. "Do they—your 'owners' know?"

Natsu shook his head, giving a negative. Satoru took a step back. Natsu's ears dropped, not in a threatening way. No, it was remorseful. Satoru swallowed. Yanking the stethoscope off, he moved back to his briefcase, shoving them in, not caring that he hadn't taken the time to do it properly.

"I'll help you get out. Uh- you have illusion magic?" It was sort of a given, it was likely that the kitsune had been maintaining the magic for quite a long time, to hide his multi-tailed nature from people for as long as he had, and yes, Satoru knew that Natsu was male. It wasn't weird, that was just how kemonimi were, they didn't wear clothing to cover features like humans did. The question was of the limit of the magic.

That train of thought was interrupted by an anthro approaching them. The ram anthro ignored Suguru entirely, all of his focus trained onto Gojo with a nervous demeanor. His fur was a reddish brown, with some white tufts around the ends of his limbs, and his black hooves held an unopened can of soda. The school uniform he wore was worn and messily repaired in a few locations. It looked secondhand, perhaps older. When Gojo acknowledged his presence, the ram's face lit up, twinkling with hope.

"Hikari, uh, I thought you might like—"

"I know you weren't there, but it's *Satoru* now. And if you're giving that to me cus you think I'm interested, then you better scram. Or else I'll show claws." Gojo maintained a facade of boredom, examining the piece of gummy candy on his claw. The ram looked put out, but pressed onwards.

"O-okay, Satoru! This soda is for you, if you want it, um, I hope you like this flavor." He started shuffling the can between his hooves. Suguru almost felt guilt at his silence. Would the update in name be enough? Gojo sneered at the soda can as it was held towards him, all teeth.

"What did I just say?" he growled, ears slowly dropping back. Suguru was glad that none of this ire was aimed at himself. The ram stumbled over a half-formed apology, jumping into the air slightly when Gojo released a *real* growl, then he bolted. Gojo sighed, all of the tension dropping from his body, overwritten with a deep exhaustion that surprised Suguru. "Sorry, I didn't want you to see something like that."

"Geto-san, did you get to have pets growing up?"

"Yeah, we had a few, though the dog wasn't really a house pet. She was a working dog."

"What about the others?"

"Uh... I guess the cats were also sorta working animals, actually. I grew up on a farm."

"A farm..." Satoru echoed, picturing it in his mind. Geto with his parents, raising livestock and tilling the fields, standing in the rice paddies and picking berries. "Cool."

"Oh, and I had a lizard in college," Geto added on, brightening up slightly.

"What? A lizard? People keep those as pets?" Satoru asked, squinting at the tv. It was starting to blur together. Was Satoru really this much of a lightweight?

"Yeah, best pet I ever had, honestly. I had him for... ohhh, it must've been like six or seven years? When Manami and I moved in together I had to give him to a friend, though."

"... Why?"

Geto sighed, swirling his near empty can slowly. "Sometimes you have to give things up for a relationship."

Peeling his face off the table, Satoru frowned. Geto's words made sense but they felt wrong. But wasn't that what Satoru's father had done? Given up his own pursuits of an art-based career to marry his mother? But they weren't a happy relationship. At best, they treated each other like business partners because that was essentially what they were.

"Oh. That sucks, though." Geto sighed again, took a sip of his drink and leaned back.

That night, when they're frying the meatballs, Yuji found his gaze catching on Megumi's scars again. He wasn't certain why. For a moment he is just... stuck. Mind caught in a loop of replaying memories like an old DVD, skipping about, shredding the audio, blotches growing in the video. For a second, or a minute, he realizes that Gojo's voice is muddied and distant. When Megumi's hand hits his shoulder, Yuji jumped, sucking in harsh air as he blinked at Megumi, bewildered.

this counts for #wipwednesday because i say so... more of my #goge magic au~ this was written for a weekly prompt but it will probably find itself in the actual work! :3

Fluttering wings rang out as they crashed into the glass that had suddenly trapped the creature, squeaking with what were probably swears if you could understand the faire dragon language. Satoru leaned in, keeping his hand tight over the top of the glass.

He'd never actually seen a faire dragon before. Out of all possible options, he never expected to see one in the tiny school dorms, either. It was pretty, its scaled wings glittered in beautiful purples and blues before melding into the sunset orange of its body. It's tail had curled into itself, staying even as the little beast darted around the limited space, still squeaking with upset.

"What am I even supposed to do with you?" he wondered aloud, sighing. Faire dragons were small, but troublesome. Despite being the size of a butterfly, their magical energies could disrupt any long term spells, which the dorms were full of. Maybe that was why it had come here? "I think Suguru would yell at me if I squished you. Tell me it was unethical, even if you come with some useful parts..."

Speaking of... The door clicked open and shut as Suguru returned. He had a later class that Satoru couldn't fathom taking himself, it seemed too annoying. Satoru just waited silently, the noise of the dragon ramming itself into the glass was the only thing filling the room.

"Satoru, what is that noi—" Suguru stopped, assessing the situation. "Why is there a faire dragon caught in a cup. In our living room. Like a bug?"

"Well, it like, is a bug, isn't it? It has butterfly wings. Hmm. Actually I guess scientifically it isn't in the same category but its the same *size* as a bug so it counts, right? And it was buzzing around. It sort of scared me flying by my ear the first time." Satoru looked back down as the dragon stopped its struggle, standing on the table. It looked almost sad? Even its springy tail was drooping now. Shit.

"That's— I'm not gonna argue semantics with you, please free it. They understand Japanese." Suguru sat on the couch next to Satoru, looking down at the glass.

"Seriously? Wait, why didn't I know that—" A stern look from Suguru froze Satoru for a breath. He removed the glass quickly. "Hey there! Didn't know you could speak! Sorry about trapping you, I just thought it was annoy—"

"I must apologize greatly for my roommate's behavior, how can I make it up to you?"

#五夏 au snippets for wip wednesday :3

The sound of Shoko's lighter in her hands had Satoru sneering as he turned around again, picking a few new targets to blow up. The spell was flexible, doing calculations by hand went a long way in that for Satoru's ability to cast it. His next rock was larger. /Blue/ destroyed it with ease. Then he went smaller, as small as a keyhole in a door. /Blue/ also handled that as fast as the snap of your fingers. Brilliant. Just as he expected.

Well, mostly expected. There was the part of Satoru that had expected it all to backfire on him, and blow him up. That's why he had brought two witnesses. If Satoru /had/ blown himself up, there would be two people who could speak on what happened. They would surely do so with tears streaming down their faces, having witnessed the death of the greatest sorcerer on the planet.

/HAH! Just kidding./

“What's its name?”

“Hm? Name?” Satoru dodged a low hanging branch, grinning as it nearly hit Geto in the face.

“The spell?”

“Oh. Simple. I've named it /Blue/.”

Shoko, who was trailing behind them, laughed so loud that a bird flew away in the distance. “Seriously? That's so lame.”

“No it's not! /Blue/ gets the point across! I could call it something real dumb like /Breaking The Laws of Gravity to Create Black Holes/ if you really think that's better…”

Shoko groaned, shoving her hand into the middle of Satoru's back.

“I think /Blue/ is nice,” Geto said eventually. They were nearly out of the woods by now.
