If you’re a member, I’d suggest contacting the AICPA as well - I’m sure they’d be very interested and they do lots of lobbying. Also your state CPA society. Their jobs are literally advocating for the accounting profession.

It’s going to be a hassle, but I’m going to open a new checking account and start using that for my paycheck and expenses. I’ll keep the old checking account open to get my tax refunds, but don’t want any more exposure than that.

This is what we should all be calling our senators and representatives about on Monday. Flood their lines letting them know they need to do something about this, and have significant support behind them.

For higher income single people, might be cheaper in certain cases (e.g., ordering in a $25 salad for lunch is less than spending $100 of time prepping fresh veggies that will go to waste before you can use them up), but if planning ahead it’s absolutely more cost effective to cook at home.
