I took my first ever woodworking class. It was a hand tool (Wharton Esherick inspired) 3 leg stool class at The Philadelphia Furniture Workshop. I’m pretty pleased with how it came out. Worth the sore hands and muscles 😆 Take care of yourselves and each other as best you can. #woodworking

My previous post was still pictures. Here’s a video of the finished falling maple leaves #marquetry piece. Silence is complicity. Take care of yourselves and each other as best you can.

One year later the falling leaves piece is finished…til I figure out what to do with it and actually do it. Thank you for the supportive comments on this one. Silence is complicity. #marquetry #woodveneer

This is a good project to work on when my brain is too horrified/distracted by the hate, intolerance, chaos and cruelty of this admin and those who support it to use tools that require focus. #marquetry

Thank you for the lovely compliment!! It’s actually thin veneer taped together that I’ll glue onto a backer. I’ve taped the front and I’m removing the small bits of tape from the back.

Posting this today is my small act of resistance to the raging dumpster fire. Lots to do yet including replacing the border and getting through glue up. Then I need to decide what to do with it. #marquetry

A gift for the youngest and her wife to memorialize a tree they tried unsuccessfully to nurse back to health.

English walnut and scrap/epoxy table update: Making progress on the base. Currently working on bottom stretcher joinery then next is final sanding before glue-up. Grateful to have a project to focus my dumpster fire anxiety on. #woodworking

The English walnut and scrap/epoxy console table is progressing…slowly. But any progress is progress. Included a water pop for a hint of finished colors. Take care of yourselves and each other as best you can. #woodworking #consoletable

1/ My youngest is incredibly talented and needed a multi-purpose workbench for book and print making, sewing, paper cutting and storage. The paper cutter will be added later. I built this for her.

Finished the fourth of the five falling leaves in this #marquetry piece. Started it last June and, working on it sporadically, might get it finished by this June…maybe. #woodworking

I’m going with a #walnutwednesday post. Here is a walnut slab top and old oak flooring base coffee table I built a few years ago. Epoxy to fix a corner void and novice through tenons included. #woodworking

Thank you for all of the wonderful comments on my most recent maple leaf. It’s hard to post with the dumpster fire growing daily but I truly believe art helps. I have some other marquetry leaves and flowers earlier in my feed. Here’s a larger one I did for a maker swap. #marquetry #woodworking
