My general process building any OC for a game is to pick one general theme that I want to explore, and start building details supporting that central theme! I tend to frame out the major points throughout their entire lives, and fill in specific details as needed to justify traits and tendencies.

Been raving about Frostpunk since I gave it a try recently (v late to this game I know), and it’s a great reminder of how the corporate overlords of AAA games will never allow the requisite level of depth and discomfort needed for interesting moral storytelling in favor of mass appeal

I think video games, especially those with sophisticated narrative structure, could use a lot better grounding in player psychology. Basically right now we make up affinity groups or, much worse, rely on demographics, and then try to broadly design to what we think they like. Imo we can do better.
