Partners RacialJusticeNow!, YoungPeopleforProgress, and MoCoDecrimCoalition are mobilizing for a briefing at the County Council on MCPS's Community Engagement Officer Program (the police-in-schools program) and the Office of Legislative Oversight’s report on the school to prison pipeline in MCPS.1/2

Montgomery County Police have launched a “Drone as First Responder Program,” in which drones will be dispatched in response to 911 calls for services to three specific areas of the County. We objected to MCPD’s request for funding for this program during the FY2024 budget cycle. 1/5

Since 2020, SSJC has worked in partnership with coalition of justice-seeking organizations in Montgomery County on police-free traffic and police-free schools. On Oct 22, this coalition, led by Young People for Progress, will be having a relaunch as the Montgomery County Decriminalization Coalition.
