I could go on and on with bad personal experiences with online store of big brand names. They just have not figure out yet e-commerce.

Costco have a very disconnected experience between their online store and brick and mortar stores. It's not the first time I have problems with online orders where I have to call several times to do very manual changes. Even for regular orders (not returns).

Until very recently I used to have a dedicated machine with a specific OS and specific browser to buy at GameStop because the last step of their purchase would always fail in any other OS or browser.

This fits well in an impression that I have from my own experience: very few companies have archive the capability to handle well online purchases + delivery + returns.

Which is weird given that Costco is second to none in their return experience at store. Lesson learned.
