I worked with some amazing people during my fellowship @nhsengland.bsky.social - it is a time of huge uncertainty and worry for all those working in the organisation. I hope it is handled in a sensitive and caring manner but I fear it won’t be.

5 years ago we were holding a training session at my hospital to prepare us for COVID when I heard my niece had been born. Her birthday is always a very poignant reminder of that time and one day I will tell her all about it and what her Aunty Nat Nat did.

Spent the day recovering from a resident oncall shift last night covering a gap, acting down as the senior registrar. Astonishing when so many brilliant resident doctors can’t get training posts and we know anaesthetic training posts need expansion!

Slightly belated but it is now a year since I started the next step of my career as a consultant. The number one thing I have learnt - great colleagues are the most important thing. I couldn’t have thrived during the year without their advice, support and help.

And a huge thank you to @doctoroxford.bsky.social for her kind words during her @assocanaes.bsky.social keynote speech today. I wasn’t there to see her sadly but truly appreciative of having her support in so many ways. She has done extraordinary things!

When I joined Twitter back in 2009 it led to great friendships, lots of opportunities and engaging with some fantastic people I would never have met in real life. Hoping for the same from here!
