Today I tried #shinestacker (https://shinestacker.wordpress.com) – new open source focus stacker and it works! Stacked my hand-held fly shots on default settings with no problems, something I couldn’t achieve with Hugin tools (but my #olympus #em5mark3 could […]

I’ll also allow myself to leave this here. For no reason.

(Can’t respond to the original thread as it’s not visible in the Fediverse though.)

Is cosúil gur ana-leithcheal ar lucht labhartha an Bhéarla a thosnaigh in Éirinn le déanaí. Is mór an trua iad, an slua bocht úd.

A comparison. Shot using Olympus E-M5 mk. III. The only change between the two screenshots is changing the “daylight” (“światło dzienne”) to “custom” (“niestandardowy”) illuminant type control. CCT supposedly stays at 4201 K but the preview is visibly different.

Maidir leis an bhfocal fad-aradha – tá athruithe ann mar fileadha (sean-áinsíoch iolra) > filí, agus tá an fhoirm scríte ‘fadaraighe’ le fáilt i bhfoclóir an Duinnínigh […]

I added an entirely new section to the Scottish Gaelic guide today – about choosing between ’s e, ’s i, ’s iad, and made several improvement to some other parts. :)

PS I’ve just realized Scottish Gaelic keeps the same distinction (but it’s only visible in feminine):

’s i Catrìona a mhàthair, ’s i Catrìona a rinn e (referring to person)

but:

’s e Catrìona [an t-ainm] a th’ oirre, ’s e Catrìona a b’ ainm dhi (referring to name)

Agus tá a lán seana-shamplaí leis an nginideach i gCorpas RIA, le ‘siúl’ agus cúpla ceann le ‘dul’ fairis sin.

Tá agus in DIL, mar shampla:

in feth dobadhus ag siubul in domain, Maund. 177

Ach ní thig liom sampla leis an áinsíoch (nó le hainmneach) d’fháilt.

De réir Chorpas DASG, ní bhíonn in Albainn ach “a’ gabhail an rathaid” leis an nginideach, ach bíonn an t-áinsíoch in “a’ dol an rathad”. Is cosúil go bhfuil dealú ann idir an dá bhriathar.

Ach ní féidir liom sampla a dh’fháilt, ó údaraibh Éireann ná Alban, a bheadh níos sine ná 18ú haois.

@davidstifter.bsky.social I’ve recently read Bičovský’s article arguing for Slavic initial *x- < *sk- and there’s this bit in there.

Is this distinction between deuterotonic as·beir < *exs … beret(i) (with -s) vs protot. ·eper < eg·beret(i) (no -s) a broadly accepted thing?

And so exactly the same thing happens in those ‘(an) duine is mó ciall’ construction. It just directly continues the good old whose-relative clause, even though it’s not felt as such anymore.

Historically it really just meant:

‘the person _whose_ sense is greatest’. 4/n

McKenna in an appendix to “Bardic Syntactical Tracts” notes more convoluted examples involving a prepositional pronoun, eg.:

crann ar a raibhe an t-éan chraoibh ‘the tree on whose branch the bird was’

lit. ‘tree on which/whose was the bird branch’

craoibh ‘branch’ is in dative after ‘ar’ 3/n

My explanation of the use of (in)direct relative clauses with adverbials in #irish #grammar.

Written on a forum that I _don’t_ want to advertise due to one active toxic user making it not be a safe space. But IMO the explanation is worth sharing.
