painting dark colored birds is hard!!! the colors are way harder to get right BUT i think it looks alright

The Ruby Crowned Kinglet (Corthylio calendula) is the only kinglet not in genus Regulus. Why set it apart? Because unlike other kinglets, the RCK has no black crown stripes and a red crest AND (my favorite part) has really distinct vocalization! ...vocalization!

not super thrilled with it, needed more colors in the tail feathers especially but uhhh. i have to study botany so..

i should share this from yesterday! birds!! gonna start drawing birds every day i can for real this time
