In the end, Germany is a country obsessed with selection in education (@mafaalani.bsky.social termed this "Selektionswut" - selection-rage), but if all this selection does not enter sociological education measures, the resulting inequalities also "disappear". CASMIN is better for Germany than ISCED.

... ESS (then round 1-2) data, which puzzled me so much as to motivate my dissertation. ES-ISCED was constructed to avoid just that, but if you aggregate this in the same way as ISCED, I would not expect any "better" results.

Interesting work (and thanks for the citations!). Maybe my 2010 paper would be a helpful reference since it systematically tries to look into aggregation error. I found, when I started working on my thesis, that Germany came out top when correlating parent and respondent education using

Und dazu passend @mafaalani.bsky.social . Ich kann das alles unterschreiben, als Soziologin u Mutter. Ich verstehe nicht, warum Schulen nicht mit Vereinen u Musikschulen kooperieren. Und erst recht nicht, dass demographischer Wandel u Investitionen in Bildung politisch nicht zusammen gedacht werden.
