I believe the ratio of trained problem solvers and problem finders is off. We start problem solving in primary school but training in problem finding is only found in college. Problem triage is nowhere to be found. This is how you get tech bubbles, immense yet aimless talent solving non-problems.

The new GNOME extension zero-tolerance AI policy identifies several telltale signs of AI generated code: Lots of unnecessary code, inconsistent style, imaginary API usage, and prompts in the comments.
Having worked in Meta's BS environment that non-existent API usage caused a lot of headaches.

Geeking out about the soroban and 5*2 base counting. With this, you can do operations up to values of 100 on your fingers, using the fingers as the 1s, thumbs as the 5s, and second hand as the 10s column. Counting systems like this make it a lot more obvious how we arrived at the electronic computer

The research says social media is bad for our brains. I left, but now begrudgingly I am back. Shortform media is now the locus of attention and power. To stay out is to neglect the moral imperative to spread good.

So take a break if needed. But don't give up on sharing your good with the world.
