Nice. IMO Taylor's article is the incorrect take.

Facebook has an infinity of servers that can take the tiny incremental load that a few million new users of a mostly text app, when they are used to serving lots of pics and videos. Bluesky is not gonna be able to do that. But I think you are right, they are missing a big window the last few months.

I don't know, but didn't seem to make much of a difference to their PlayStation MAU?

For me, VR/AR headsets are likely laptop killers, once the tech is good enough. Apple Vision Pro might be there. The last missing piece is some kind of gloves allowing typing w/ speed + accuracy of a keyboard. Then I'd probably ditch my desktop and laptop and exclusively use phone+headset+gloves.

This is a UX problem & the better solutions the more people will use mobile. I don't game on mobile, but it appears the industry has found very good solutions. Is the only thing keeping me from primarily using Office on the mobile phone just having better controls? https://youtu.be/JqId6RPEeo8?t=53

The barrier to entry is a lot lower because everyone already has a phone, while consoles are expensive, single purpose, and even hard to get. The question in my mind is will mobile gaming eventually kill off console gaming or serve as a gateway? And what are these stats for Microsoft Excel ;)

The release of the mobile game didn't hurt console MAU. Console is clearly the superior UX, gamers love better screens, better controls, better graphics, less limitations. It just added a bunch of new players who could play while riding in a bus or car or in their free time at a boring event. 3/

Call of Duty has been an insanely popular franchise for a long time. The mobile version was first release in October 2019, and you can see the huge jump in MAU. 2/
