The reason people believe all those things, or rather they think they "know" it to be so is solely that AI user interfaces are deliberately designed to simulate human conversation and interaction.

This is a deception that's carefully crafted to remove your safeguards and skepticism.

Again:

AI isn't intelligent.
AI doesn't think.
AI cannot reason.
AI has no self.

It's a procedural algorithm, and that's it. There's no magic incantation that will suddenly spring it into conciousness or "superintelligence".
