We were close to building back better, and 47 came in and reversed everything. As long as there is a belligerent, genocidal, radical right, there must be a strong left to minimize damage. 47 has the courts, and we are in a nosedive. Congress has been ineffectual to stopping it.

2/ that said, I do agree that our elected officials are currently our best hope for keeping us safe in the meantime. I just hope to see less controlled opposition in the future from the Democratic Party.

AOC and maybe a few others are the closest thing to hard-left we’ve even tried in recent history, and she won. Unelectabity is determined by the voters. Our elections are compromised anyway. Voting is important, but change needs to manifest through alternative vectors for progress to continue.
