I have just been informed that the typewriter sounds at the beginning of Dolly Parton’s 9 To 5 were actually her tapping her acrylics together, which I did not know. Hilariously, Wikipedia credits her as “lead vocals; nails”.

sigh. A quick search for "pork steak pasta salad" (I've got some pork steaks and was looking for inspiration) and near the top of the (Qwant) search is a recipe website. With a weird insertion.

"Emma, culinary professional" is just one more LLM making things rubbish, I see. Please just stop.

“Our priority is growth!”
“How do you imagine you get growth, Minister?”
“By letting trillion dollar American tech companies do what they want!”
“Should we drop the pledge to have them penalised for scams?”
“Yes”
“Tell the regulator to dial back?”
“Yes”
“Bend over in the worship of ‘AI’?”
“Yes”

Correction: it was Orwell’s review of someone else’s biography of Gandhi. www.orwellfoundation.com/the-orwell-f...
“[Gandhi] believed in ‘arousing the world’, which is only possible if the world gets a chance to hear what you are doing.”

At least one of the reasons why this may be happening is clear, though.

Google say that they were talking about open web advertising, but they certainly are less interested in the open web being a tide that raises all boats and more interested in Google-specific lockin than they used to be.

There are lots of examples of Shakespearean insults to be deployed at people (“thou bull’s pizzle! Thou elf-skin! Thou tailor’s-yard!”) I don’t know if the equivalent in French exists, presumably from Voltaire or Flaubert or something, but if it does, “douche-tonique” should definitely be on it.

A flameskull dropped a fireball on them. It had two other, entirely ordinary, skulls next to it with magic mouths on them which gave out booming laughter whenever it did anything, and the fireball knocked all of them down except one, who managed to crawl with a healing potion to the rest.

made a quick cover for Counterpoise, my in-progress #ttrpg ruleset, which I'm surprisingly pleased with given my lack of design talent. Might be ready to start beta-testing soon.
