Black Ops 7 launching to such weak numbers wasn't in the cards despite knowing it will have good competition this year, but then again, it having such blatant and poor use of AI slop also wasn't in the cards.

Free to play shooters are notoriously tough to get into. Arguably the only successful releases in recent times have been Marvel Rivals and Delta Force. Delta Force's growth is really incredible to see even with a very mixed rating on Steam.

10. Deadly Days: Roadtrip: Vampire survivor-like with an inventory management twist. The better you are at managing, the better your equipment will perform. You need to find the banana costume btw, you default spawn as Joel. 😭

9. Holstin: been following this game for a long time. Eerie town, mysterious story, interesting characters, fully voiced and very polish. Switching from isometric when exploring to over-the-shoulder in action is very unique. Impressive the world is fully built out. This is my jam.

8. PIGFACE: fast paced FPS, old school feel with a hint of horror. AI is kind of dumb but fits nicely with the messy gunplay it's presenting. This isn't some shoot the heads, precise gunplay. You go in killing, get to your objective and leave.

7. Cast n Chill: you like fish? and fishing? Then this might be the game for you. The pixal art is fantastic. You have a doggo with you while you fish and you can idle and just let themselves fish for a while too!

6. TAMASHIKA: there's certainly been a trend of psychedelic shooters in my recent memory and I'm all for it. Japanese anime inspired hand drawn art style, mixed with that soundtrack, it gives you an adrenaline rush. I don't know why but the painted nails here makes it even cooler.

5. Lost and Found Co: hidden object games aren't my cuppa tea but the art is so adorable and cute, I can't emphasize it enough, it really carries the game for me. Demo is really fleshed out. I can see myself playing the full game from time to time to relax and chill.

4. Moonlighter 2: big fan of the first game, and this game is aims to iterate on the first by adding a bit more complexity. I love the direction but it's nothing revolutionary. Liked the previous art style but change is cool too. Performance of demo had rough edges.

3. Easy Delivery Co. is a cozy game about making deliveries in your cute kei truck. You help the residents in the mountain town by delivering parcels that somehow always turns foggy when you pick up packages 😆 extra cozy today since it rained extra hard.

2. Escape Simulator 2: It's like one but upgraded graphics with some additional mechanics that's not in the first. A must play with friends together and feel dumb together. In the full game, you'll be able to hang out in the lobby and play chess(?) neat.

Here's some #SteamNextFest games I've played 🧵

1. Mycopunk: Imagine Helldivers 2 but you are fighting gunk monsters, combined with borderlands gunplay and risk of rain characters. Chaotic fun with friends and a cute revive system.

Nine Sols

On the surface it may seem like it's an unforgiving game following the footsteps of Sekiro-like combat and cool art with a furry protagonist. It is all that but also a great soundtrack, some really memorable bosses and a surprisingly heartfelt story. Little nod to Old Boy goes hard too 😉

Twitch saw some prominent spikes in viewership on March 9th, 12th and 21st leading up to the game launch. Lirik played it in one of his sunday variety sessions for an hr and his viewers seemed to really enjoy it.
March 26, 2025 at 1:54 AM
Some more examples:
Mr Jolly Roger (19K sub, 3vid) - 112K views
Ratchett 2.0 (96K sub, 1vid) - 116K views
kaden wilson (31K sub, 8vid) - 198K views

Side note: all these folks released videos Mar 9 - 12. Some played the game during SNF and gotten full access builds from the dev presumably.
March 26, 2025 at 1:54 AM
The game didn't get any big YTer attention early on. However, some stood out not with their sub count but with the views they've gotten, clearly the game grabbed people. In particular, Oj (21K subs) released 3 videos of the game well before SNF in early feb and gotten 700K+ views combined.
March 26, 2025 at 1:54 AM
So the demo for the game was actually released back in December 10, 2024, but it was Feb's Steam Next Fest that helped propel it in front of more gamers to play. The last couple of days on SNF had explosive growth. It landed #43 out of 2K+ demo games in terms of follower growth.

Another day and another game blew up that wasn't on my radar.
Schedule I, let's take a look at it.
From what I can see, here's what worked for the game:

‼️ Monster Hunter Wilds did in fact surpass Lost Ark to take the #5 spot peaking at 1,384,608 CCU yesterday. Absolutely incredible achievement by the MH team and Capcom. I do suspect the game to stay at #5, the steam reviews are still very mixed. It's technical state is still not good it seems.

‼️ Monster Hunter Wilds just launched and it's already the #9 game in all time peak list. Beating out Elden Ring. Very impressive.

Just found out Chris from How To Market A Game made a blog post about this exact question. I didn't realize that Steamworks show the wishlist-to-sale conversion rates for when the sale happened if it was wishlisted before. According to the example presented old wishlists aren't worse in quality...
