My latest painting, “Retrograde & Inversion -Blue Window”. 30”x40”, oil on paperboard
George Rochberg (1918-2005) wrote his Transcendental Variations as a departure from the sterile 12-tone method of his early career. In #6, he seems to channel Mahler. I put on my headphones and listen to this daily, and for a brief two minutes, it takes me to a place far from the chaos and horror.♥️

The fourth of Richard Strauss’ “Four Last Songs”, Im Abendrot (At Sunset).
In memory of my friend of 50 yrs., Russell Logsdon, who passed Jan. 8, this is the elegaic adagio from Anton Bruckner’s 6th Symphony. Russell was many things, but I know he would want to be remembered as a maker of violins, and that is how I will remember him as well. RIP, my gifted friend.
