I use thousands of numbers to draw an image instead of using lines or dots. I'm a budding biologist and dissector at PSU.

Using the tiniest tools to scratch numbers this big is pretty satisfying. I'm scratching with a tattoo needle into clayboard. My data is the energy and mass released during the 1980 eruption of Loowit (Helens)

The extensor mechanism of the fingers exhibits a complex and refined structure that I fell madly in love with. I drew it with numbers describing varying density, diameter, and tensile strength. I was dissecting today and wondering how I can improve upon this drawing. #anatomyart #sciart #bioart

I love this detail shot! It features the pulleys of the hand, scratched with the total force in Newton's they can withstand before rupturing. Rupturing is more common in ligaments over both the Superficial and deep Flexor tendons because they have to withstand greater force #SciaArt #bioart #anatomy

Here's a detail image of "Anatomical Pianist" so you can see the numbers. The piano keys are scratched with the touch weight and Hz frequency of each key.

I think single images may work better for the #bluesky format. What do you all think? Should I post individual images followed by individual details images, or publish a group of images together? @kindracrick.com

Look closer. Those aren't lines or dots. I've drawn this with numbers and equations describing the shape, density, strength, and elasticity of tendons, muscle, ligaments, and bone. #Sciart #contemporaryart #fineart #scratchboard

When you're surrounded by darkness; make your own light.
This jellyfish creates cool bioluminescent light with the luciferin-lucifrase reaction. Hand drawn with the chemical formula for Luciferin C11H8N2O3S2. The first image is painted to glow under a black light #SciArt

Fractal patterns are ubiquitous in nature, such as in trees and lungs, because the form works really well. You get a high surface area for gas exchange while maximizing space. This repeated pattern is called self similarity.

Scratched by hand with an equation for fractal branching #SciArt

A class assignment asked me to design an image that captured my personality and pursuits without the need of words. How did I do?
