Lover of classic rock and old psych music. I enjoy discovering old and new music. Gardening and nature make me happy. Traveling is what keeps me going.
I love seeing these guys cruising around. Velvet ants are so cool looking. I believe they are not ants but are wingless wasps with quite a nasty sting. Aka cow killer. Bad photo as this one was on the move and didn’t stop.

Super Sessions. First half is Al Kooper with Mike Bloomfield. Bluesy with excellent guitar work. second half is Kooper with Stephen Stills. More west coast vibes but just as awesome. good supporting cast as well. If you’ve heard it, with Which side do you prefer?

Really interesting album. Mixing psychedelic and avant-garde styles. Pioneers in the use of electronics in rock music. I love Dorothy Moskowitz’s voice. Shame they only made 1 album.

Traffic. Last exit
Previously released material and some live tracks from the Fillmore. Not my favorite by them but man, Stevie Winwood sings the hell out Shanghai Noodle Factory. What a great song. Medicated Goo is also good.

Into the Wild was a movie I enjoyed and have seen a few times. The soundtrack by Eddie Vedder is a big part of why it was memorable for me. His first Solo studio album. Anyone else agree it’s a top 5 soundtrack?

Brainticket. Cottonwoodhill. 1971.
This is one trippy album. First 2 songs are excellent and more straightforward. The next 26 minutes or so is dominated by repetitive organ and guitar riffs with various sound effects and Dawn Muir’s ramblings.

Flying Burrito Brothers. Gilded Palace of Sin. This album was my foray into country rock. Gram Parsons is great but it was sneaky Pete Kleinow’s steel guitar that made me love this album. Also, Those Nudie suits are cool as hell.

Is Good times bad times the best opening track on a debut album?
Imagine, back in 1969, buying a record from this new group called Led Zepplin and hearing that first song. Minds must have been blown. Would have been cool to experience.

A great Los Angeles band. Spirit put out a really good debut album. Besides having a cool name, guitarist Randy California even played with Hendrix earlier in his career. Zepplin was accused of ripping off the notes of the song Taurus for their stairway to heaven intro.

Quicksilver Messenger service. One of the best albums to come out of San Francisco at a time when a lot of great bands in the area were creating the “San Francisco Sound”. Must have been amazing to be there at that time. Great concerts every week.

I really like this one from Donovan. Probably my second favorite behind Sunshine Superman. “Celtic Rock” as he called it. His 8th studio album. 1970.

Enjoying a nice walk in the woods with my dog when we came upon this little fella. First snake I’ve seen this year. Small garter snake about 18” or so and real thin.

I’m not familiar with religious music or Christian Rock but I listened to this album “Montgomery Chapel” by the Search Party. Came out in ‘69. I liked it a lot. I am and will always be a sucker for the organ. The song “So many things have got me down” is a banger. Definitely worth a listen.

Moby Grape
Live

The Bay areas Best. All members were fantastic musicians. All were songwriters and each did lead vocals. This album showcases live performances from 66 through 69. One of those amazing groups that should have been huge but weren’t. Bad management & some mental illness hurt.

Haymarket square. Magic Lantern. This great album from 1968 was used to accompany a light show at an art museum. My favorite tracks are: Elevator and Amapola. Any fans out there?
