You should still consider the likelihood of your resume being printed when considering the layout. 0.5-inch margins all the way around is most common. 0.3-1.0 inch is a good range to play with. Just make sure top/bottom & left/right match.

The best software to use for building a resume is the one that is easy to use & accessible to you. Google Docs, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Canva are ones I see frequently used. If you're really stuck on where to start, look for templates.

Your resume does not have to be black and white. Adding some color is a great way to do a little self branding. Just be thoughtful and consistent with what you choose to add. Don't let anything distract from your skills and experience.

When facing writer's block with a cover letter, return to the job posting for inspiration. You are pitching to them why you're perfect for the role, so reframe the job posting as a wish list. Pick out those details that might not be obvious in the resume. Defend with examples from your career.

Don't put your GPA on your resume. Add it only if the job requests that information. They won't request that information.
