4th graders at Longfellow Elementary recently wrapped up a Side x Side printmaking program held during lunch/recess. Led by teaching artist Cat LaBarre, students learned block printing techniques to create words and images expressing their feelings on social issues and then printed them on t-shirts.

5th graders at Ocean Ave Elementary School recently engineered their second bridges during a STEAM program in collaboration with Side x Side. Students used a variety of art-making techniques to design their bridges to meet specific community needs. Each bridge is creative and functional!

5th graders at Ocean Ave Elementary are engineering bridges during a STEAM program in collaboration with Side x Side. Students worked in groups with teaching artist Posey to design a bridge using various materials. A weight-bearing challenge tested each bridge to measure the weight it could hold!
