The reason I highlighted the overlap was for accessibility. If you want to keep that effect I might suggest either greater contrast between your hues, split text, or colors other than red/green.

My best advice is to add a background texture. I'm partial to "paper", but I think woodgrain would fit the setting. Merge it onto a Rastr, 15-20% opacity in your hero color, 👌!
Plus, it lets you "bounding box" in paper color to save legibility.

Maybe not the moment for it as it might be more pertinent to feature contemporary artists, but "Caper in the Castro" is the earliest known LGBT game and is available for free on Archive.
