I would recommend this class to anyone. Again, thank you, Rafael and Alisha! Y'all are the best!

Through this class, I've come to respect art much more. Through my thoughts and criticisms, I've been able to look deeper into works I otherwise would've paid little to no attention to and not fully understand the intentions and intricacies.

Even the readings were interesting and touched on some rather important topics like the evolution of art and humanity. It helped understand the importance and history of art.

The concept of this class was great. Visiting various contemporary art museums helped expose ourselves to various types of arts and art forms. Some of the art that I've experienced were some of the best I've come across. I would've never known they existed had it not been for this class.

I thought this piece was genius with its play on nostalgia and giving a peak into someone's life through a unique perspective.

The cardboard camera also had its own flair. It was pink and had a young girl-ish look and charm to it, which added to the piece. The camera sort of embodied the character of a young, playful girl.

The video playing was, I'm assuming, the artist at a younger age. Or maybe it was the artist who captured these videos of other people in her life. Either way, it was the artist's memories that were on display.

This artwork had a unique way of displaying nostalgia and childhood memories. The piece itself was a large camera made out of cardboard and had a screen placed on the back of it to make it feel like an actual camera.

Agreed! It's become so hard to let go of our devices. The artwork shows it perfectly where we need to literally peel it off of our hands.

Love this! That's a great way of putting it

That's a good catch! Didn't notice the space bar the first time around!

Even the wool and threads over the panels add to the work, acting as noise over those memories, obscuring them even further, making them more blurry.

The attention to detail on this work is great. Each face has not only its own expression but also its own level of obscurity, sort of emulating how much one remembers something. It's truly amazing.

The use of various wool and threads with the plastic panels was done masterfully. In the work, you can see outlines of faces made out of wool between the panels. The faces were blurry due to the panels, which I thought was genius as it emulated memories.

To this day, I embrace both my American and Indian sides. So it was great to see artwork that highlighted the idea of embracing one's sides and cultures.

My family and I moved to India when I was in the first grade. I spent my entire childhood there. I picked up and learned a lot of values from my surroundings, my parents, and my friends, and I learned what it was to be Indian.

They are embracing both sides of themselves, as shown in the artwork where they have the American flag with the Chinese flag and the dumplings. The reason this artwork is relatable is because although I was born in the US, I did spend a lot of time in India.

This work takes on the idea of identity and values. On the lid, we see the Chinese flag mixed with the American flag, showing that they are part Chinese and part American. Not just by region but also by the values they believe in and practice.

The work also spells out "buy anything you want someone else will pay!".
I thought this was a brilliant way of conveying the idea to the audience.

The websites are often fancy and pleasing to the user but mask the true nature and inner workings of such companies.

This ignorance or unawareness is communicated by showing the websites in the bottom corner of the screen. There are also some discounts and offers shown that draw in users and make them forget about what truly goes on.
