What if an MP avoids this by simply voting with their new party, only declaring allegiance at the next General?
Bad idea, mostly covered by others already: Stealth ultimately undermines it. Does it include going to/from independence, losing the whip, party splits/mergers/formations/renames? Including some of these makes it harder to rebel, over-empowering party leadership.
