Everyone who goes on about "law and order" and "personal responsibility" always means that for other people. In their minds there are intrinsically good people (IE them) who must have complete liberty and convenience, and intrinsically bad people ("criminals") who must be firmly controlled.

What's even worse about the hearing is, even accepting the issues as legit, Badiali is 1 in 1000. The issues are entirely from how popular they are because they're really good. They're basically saying, we cannot risk another Badiali opening, so no neighborhood retail for anyone else.

I have a theory, between these posts and the below comments, that he got some inside info that the Supreme Court case isn't looking good for him. Someone like Ginni Thomas is passing along the current mood and it's freaking him out.

It all feels of a piece with the recent Klein column. It's like they don't think these far right ideas are genuinely held by anyone, that it's all performance and no one would actually believe or act on them so they're not "dangerous"- compared to Gaza protests which clearly terrify people in power.

I just booked a high speed in France and I did have to pay €9 extra for large luggage. But also the total cost was €44 for the equivalent of Toronto->Montreal in 2h10m so can't really complain.

You know what caused the explosion in "wokeness"? Electing Trump the first time! Before that it was internet fringe stuff. Trump made all those ideas relevant to mainstream politics!
