Just another childless cat lady living a fulfilling life. I have an awesome partner, our furbabies - 2 black cats and a Rottweiler, a rewarding career that I'm proud of, and I'm a proud lefty feminist trying to live by "do no harm, but take no shit"
Happy National Black Cat Day to those that celebrate. Or as Leo and Sir Purrsalot call it, every day that ends in "y".
...And they aren't wrong.

It builds community by showing other like-minded folks that there are safe spaces and by showing the MAGAs that they don't own this state and there's no place for hate here or anywhere. Then we prove it by pushing for progressive agendas through direct & indirect action as needed.

I first saw this 5 years ago and we still owe it to them. And to ourselves, for the sake of what's left of our democracy. They would want us to speak up, speak out, and to get in the way. They never let fear or intimidation keep them from doing the right thing.

Ladies and gentlemen, our IN Attorney General! And I'm sure "celebrate or rationalize" are defined rather loosely.
And just ignore his disciplinary history, I'm sure he was only exercising his free speech rights too 🤷

A summary of the past few days...

I first took the oath nearly a decade ago and it made me proud of my profession that so many showed up now, at a time when so many attacks on the rule of law have put it in jeopardy. So way to show up Indy lawyers!

Leo really nails the Kubrick stare.

One of the best decisions I ever made was adopting these two, Sir Purrsalot and Leo ❤️

Since Braun's executive order 25-14, Indiana State agencies are being told policy related items with DEI language have to be removed from offices. No one said anything about inspirational quotes on whiteboards though, but I "redacted" it just in case 🤷

Palate cleanser time, might as well keep up with this every 2 day habit. It's rare to get a good picture of Baby cause she always moves when I try so it took my partner being sneaky to get this adorable pic with the first and her favorite toy I got her, her donkey.

It's been 2 days, time for another palate cleanser. Purr spooning the back of my neck as is our after work and evening routine and while trying to take a picture of Leo in meerkat mode, he moved and looks like a kitty cyclops.

Leo is so proud of his weight loss progress he was practically begging for a weigh-in.

Sometimes you just have to find humor in this expletive show for sanity's sake.

Palate cleanser time!
This break from your doomscrolling is sponsored by Baby & Maizie on our amazing shrinking couch, Leo being the laziest purralegal ever, and Sir Purrsalot being super snuggly after a long day.

Just a reminder.

Found a bunch of old pictures while going through stuff at my parents & this pic of my dad & my brother from July 1979 feels so timely. My brother's so enamored with his (toy) gun that he doesn't seem to care that he's stepping on the flag... If that doesn't scream 2025 vibe I don't know what does.

I have two mini panthers and we recently celebrated the 2nd anniversary of their gotcha day. Sir Purrsalot and Leo anxiously awaiting Churu and possibly reaching for scissors? 🤔 lol

A friend of mine sent this to me and I am all for it. Like with Pence, you want that much up in my business then be careful what you wish for - this administration can hear all about the joys of perimenopause now!
February 22, 2025 at 10:41 PM
On a much happier note, Happy 2nd anniversary of their gotcha day to Leo & Sir Purrsalot! These mini-panthers have brought such love & joy. Two of the best decisions I've ever made even if Leo has since made it clear he loves my partner more than me, maybe I go overboard with the smooches sometimes.

We have a Leo, Sir Purrsalot, and Baby. Now that my parents are both in a nursing home as of Monday, Maizie their old lady flabrador, has all of us. So we're all helping each other through our stress and anxiety ❤️
February 14, 2025 at 2:16 PM
So she gets brought to an unfamiliar place, by some familiar faces that she loves, but it's different from home. There's another dog & 2 cats she's never met already here that aren't ready to be BFFs quite yet. One stressful & anxious night later, she might finally be able to relax enough to rest.

With my mom in memory care and my dad now at the same facility but for OT/PT following a hospital visit, we brought Maizie to stay with us. Intros with Baby are going pretty well, taking things slow though. The boys, well, Leo's face says it all. It's about as representative of 2025 as it gets too.

I think the election taught us a couple things: a) Bernie is right (see below) & has been right for a long time; & b) there are far more racists and misogynists in this country than we realized, some even within the party (omg shocking!). But by all means use anyone pro-Palestinian as a scapegoat.

First an eagle hanging around, now deer? I'm not used to seeing them in the city, but it was pretty cool. I hope they stay safe and out of traffic.

Following up my last post with some positives: my partner printed & painted Lady of Pain for my zen garden on my desk at work & she matches perfectly! Saw the eagle that hangs out outside of work (hard to get a good pic with phone though) & quite pleased with the David Lynch quote for my whiteboard.
