Interestingly, Experiment 3 showed that attentional scale could be adaptively controlled through (implicit) statistical learning across successive trial blocks. This was marked by a precision effect between different attentional scales. (5/5)

However, our results showed the attentional scale cannot be modulated at the level of individual cued trials. Participants then reverted to a narrow attentional scale, leading to all-or-none awareness, typically found in classical RSVP AB paradigms. (4/5)

We found a broad attentional scale resulted in an attentional blur, that is, gradual target awareness. (3/5)

We used the attentional blink paradigm to investigate how the attentional scale can be dynamically controlled and its impact on visual awareness. Turns out, the way we spread our attentional resource can lead to either a gradual or discrete conscious awareness. (2/5)
