It truly is horrifying to see how easily centralized social media can be abused to vilify vulnerable people and throw an entire country into chaos. The EU should aim to learn a lesson from this and create open and safe alternatives. The rise of authoritarianism and the right is a threat to everyone.

Once again multiple attempts have been made to harm the privacy of people online. A few EU countries narrowly blocked the proposed chat control bill from going into effect on December 12th. Many member countries are still pushing for the bill to pass however. www.patrick-breyer.de/en/posts/cha...
As more and more places slowly drift towards authoritarianism it becomes more and more important to protect yourself from such governments online. Remember to use end-to-end encrypted communication and tools such as DNS-over-HTTPS, dnscrypt or DNS-over-TLS to secure unencrypted traffic.
