White blooms on cotton plant in late summer. An unopened cotton boll can be seen in the middle between the two white blooms. Cotton blooms will open the first day as a white bloom and the second day they will turn a bright pink. As the cotton matures the boll developed and the blooms fall off. Cotton bolls will then open in the fall as what everyone recognizes as cotton with the fiber being exposed as white.
