Additionally, the “whole language” verses phonics argument pushed me to leave my middle school and transfer to another school. I had a principal that lacked understanding of the needs of my students. Been in that fight!

Retired special education teacher and administrator here- one of the highlights in my career was piloting, teaching and training others to utilize multisensory phonics! Wholeheartedly the best way to teach those with learning disabilities and dyslexia- and a great way to understand our language!

We just need to make sure to keep the momentum going - the current administration needs to keep f’ing it up too, which I have no doubt the will.
