Respectfully I disagree when the vast majority of made for tv movies are still basically the equivalent of direct to video slop. The genuinely notable works made for streaming are really just exceptions that probably should have been put in cinemas where they would have made decent money.

I’d believe you. I really didn’t care at all but it took me by surprise as a really enjoyable show.

I hate to see this Amon! I love your contributions to Empire print and pod.

I’m 3 eps in totally digging it! I almost skipped it after your review but the completist in me got the edge and I’m glad! I’d love to hear a spoiler special from the whole team. Maybe it’s my low expectations but ⭐️ ⭐️ seems very harsh. Anyway it’s been nice hearing you more often on the pod lately.

I did enjoy it! David was a great choice. The scenes with Lois had snap and The Justice Gang were great fun (the final post credit scene was *chef’s kiss* for getting Superman right). Well done!

Yeah there can sometimes be a nagging sense of “off” about the characters you know so well from tv when you read about them in novel form but new characters inhabiting a world you love is the sweet spot for books.

They are great stories too and imo a great proof of concept for Lower Decks etc for how you can make some irreverent yet still retain”trekness.” Everything that Section 31 should have been is in these novels.

With the sad passing this week of Peter David I would make a shout for the USS Excalibur and her crew.

Absolutely. Both of those shows do their own thing but they know they are in a franchise that has magic and they know when to tap into and deploy that magic.
Discovery hit the Starship Enterprise button brilliantly twice. It gave us the pay off to reunification. It gave us a good Harry Mudd!

agree. Give me wild swings. But I would add give me Strange New Worlds and Skeleton Crew. Give me the thing that hits those nostalgia buttons too. If you only give me one thing or the other then it dies. I love (and prefer ) DS9 but I’m so glad we have Voyager is a clumsy analogy.

Factually inarguable.

I set mine just last week but it was very out of character. I’m not sure what came over me or if my wife has even noticed. The clocks are changing soon as well so I imagine this blissful period of seeing a correct time will be over soon.
