are all aimed at this single SD-LP candidate.

If that candidate wins its a double bonus for the left. - 1 seat from FFG and +1 left government. A 2 seat differential.

With too much choice its like a hot water pipe with no foam insulation, heat disipates in all directions.

Below are a list of all the constituencies without either a Labour or SocDem TD.
In many there isn't enough of a structure or enough activists to get any elected. However combine there resources behind a single merged party candidate then its possible.

Now imagine its down to transfers and SF trfs

for your favourite then you do your transfers to the other.
Transfers full strength and really simple.

The right are too smart to be in 4 or 5 parties. Unless you match them you'll lose in all the last seats where its tight

It worked because they were behind a single candidate, for a single elected position.
It couldn't not work.

If FF and FG had better candidates tge elimination of one spuld have helped the other immensely as in GE24.

The right are organised into 2 big coherent blocks. Each constituency you vote

So if there was a 32 county Social Democratic and Labour Party then all 3 identities are in the name.
Easier than trying to agree on constitutencies, plus voters might not take your instruction.

2 big block parties is easy to understand. Hence the massive seat bonus of FFG

Ireland. There's an assembly election in May 27 (or earlier).

Sucha contest would provide a nice campaign for SocDem and Labour activists and prep for GE29 in South

Its a long time until until 2029. It may be hard to keep activists on board and motivated.
However theres a poll out today in the Belfast telegraph stating that 50% of Unionists would vote reform UK if they stood and they are planning to.
Farage will have to be fought electorally on the island of

r individual parts.
Such a party could challenge FF on only being 26 county and representing the past with no ambition for the future.

With 2 big parties on the left heavily transferring to each other and the same on the right it will ve, for once, a fair fight

the Social Democrats the Labour Party and the Social Democratic and Labour Party in the North.

A 32 county Social Democratic and Labour Party that is progressive left, all ireland, 22TDs and 8 MLAs.
Such a party will represent 300k voters currently with a combined activist capacity well beyond thei

This meant that on some of their lowest ever first preferences they got 50% of TDs.

To win the left have to replicate this. You need 2 big left parties, not 1 big one and lots of other small ones (people don't transfer all the way down).

If you really want something revolutionary then you'd merge
October 27, 2025 at 9:40 AM
Hi Una, I really hope we see a merging of the smaller leftwing parties. A SocDem/Labour merger would create a new progressive left party of 22TDs. FF-FG had massive success in GE24 because of high transfers.
Simple for their voters, vote your favourite the use all transfers to the other.
