If you’re growing in a plot or raised bed, try companion planting and feed with chicken poop. I did that at our allotment and the tomatoes and cucumbers went bananas. I planted nasturtiums ( flowers are edible and surprisingly tasty in salad and pretty on a cake) and marigolds around them.

Pumpkin. We’d have sweet potato pie New Year’s. Pecan pie was a summer treat as Mama would buy the pecans from a roadside fruit stand along with a bag of boiled peanuts and a bag of green tomatoes to fry.
