1 This is not a conversation I wanted or asked for. You responded to me. So if you aren’t comfortable with my response that’s on you.

Please understand that I’m no ‘expert’ but neither is the woman who made the video.

She, like me, has researched and come to her own conclusions.
January 10, 2026 at 11:18 AM
2 I agree with what the experts are saying.
I disagree with her interpretation & exploitation of experts to further her own opinion & she offers no solutions to their warnings.

She is right on some issues, but her arrogance & disregard for George Monbiot is not reasonable or acceptable.
January 10, 2026 at 11:18 AM
3 He is more of an expert than me, you & her, but she manipulated his interview. Please reread his original comment as proof of that.
Her insincerity casts her entire video into questionable methodology and motive.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I am drawing it to a conclusion here.

Free family planning?… There are less births globally today than ever before.

What else do you suggest?
Forced sterilisation? 1 child policy?

Those have been tried and it didn’t go well for human morality or population control.
January 9, 2026 at 8:32 PM
I’ve asked you for answers - the conclusions you came to from watching the video.

The video had no answers. It was diatribe.

Why on earth would I watch it again!

Like her, you have no solutions.

Remember that she sought to discredit George Monbiot and she has been very discourteous to him.

There are people around the world living very simple lives whose environmental impact is minimal.
Perhaps instead of worrying about how many people there are we should focus on how people live.

The model of consumerism, wealth & greed does not work.

Greed is destroying our planet, not population.
January 9, 2026 at 8:02 PM
You say we have a massive population problem. So how do you suggest we fix that?

Remember, this conversation started because of a complete lack of solutions from a woman who made a very opinionated video.
January 9, 2026 at 7:57 PM
Exactly. The birth rate was high and life expectancy was improving rapidly. That caused a population explosion.
The reason for that is directly linked to exploitation of our planets resources.

However, less people on the planet doesn’t necessarily mean there will be less exploitation.
January 9, 2026 at 7:54 PM
4 the population growth rate will fall as deaths increase. The global population will decrease.

The only thing that will then increase the population is an increase in births.

The interplay between births and deaths is crucial. Life expectancy is also important.

Semantics doesn’t change that.
January 9, 2026 at 7:50 PM
3 so let me ask you what you think the solution to this is? Do you have one?
The reality is that births will continue to fall and resources will become scarcer as more people live longer and consume resources.
Eventually, life expectancy will fall. It already is where I live.
January 9, 2026 at 7:46 PM
2 the average global life expectancy in 1900 was 32. Today it is 73.
People are living longer than they ever have before.
Which means our population is growing because although there are babies being born, crucially fewer people die.
When deaths outnumber births a population increases.
January 9, 2026 at 7:41 PM
1 Decades ago it was typical for families to have more than 2 children and often 5 or more children. Lots of babies were born.
Today’s it’s more common to have 2 or less children. Fewer babies are being born. Especially in developed countries.
There are fewer new humans arriving on the planet.
January 9, 2026 at 7:36 PM
In what way is the number of people on the planet specifically an issue?
Perhaps the actual issue is not the flawed ‘maths’ used in the video but inequalities & rampant capitalism. Neither of which she confronted and something Mr Monbiot cares deeply about.
Adding 2B people? Look at the birth rate.

How practical do you think an adapted bike is compared to other forms of transport in an average urban setting?
Unless you’re suggesting a total ban on cars, buses, vans, Lorrie’s etc from our roads starting tomorrow it’s just not a practical solution.
January 8, 2026 at 6:24 PM
I don’t agree that bikes are better than EVs because there isn’t a one size fits all.
I don’t drive and I use public transport a lot. My son has a complex cognitive impairment & is safer as a bus, train or car passenger.
Bikes meet your needs but not his.
EV’s & bikes are equally valuable solutions.
January 8, 2026 at 6:19 PM
My family member has cognitive impairment. Bikes are not a safe option. Even if we are discussing physical disability the range of impairment rules out cycling for many.
Adapted bikes for physically disabled people cost a fortune and aren’t practical in urban environments.

If I’m a vegetarian (and I live in a family of 4 vegetarians), is my fur babys meaty wet dog food not offset by the four of us not consuming dead animals?
Humans don’t need to eat meat to live a healthy life, but going vegetarian isn’t an option for dogs.
Pets aren’t the problem, people are.
January 8, 2026 at 5:35 PM
Like Trump he is an immature, narcissistic boy in an adults body. He uses the tactics of a playground bully to avoid engaging in serious political debate, for fear his mask will slip and people will see he has no interest in helping anyone but himself.
January 8, 2026 at 5:28 PM
Talking doesn’t solve anything. Look at the COP conferences to see how little use talking is.
She wasn’t honest about population growth. She didn’t address the fact an aging population in wealthy, consumer driven societies is growing.
I found her attitude (and video) very negative & patronising.
January 8, 2026 at 5:14 PM
2 this woman needs to tell us what the alternative path is to all problems she points to.
In terms of population, does she want to stop caring for elderly people? A lot of our health care, welfare & private housing is being used by the boomer generation. What does she suggest is the answer to that?
January 8, 2026 at 11:12 AM
1 She seems to be a person who sees issues through a very narrow lense.
Yes, our planet cannot sustain what humans are doing to it. But like many, she likes to complain but offers no solutions.
You offered a solution to poverty & greed which she has exploited to make a point about population growth.

Since last January I’ve been waiting for US states to rise up and secede from the union. What’s happened to the revolutionary spirit that is part of North American heritage?!
No firing squad in a nation of states that are sitting on their hands.

According to bbc reports Russian media has rolled back its criticism.
I’m guessing Putin is scared of upsetting his 🍊boyfriend because of Ukraine.
January 7, 2026 at 3:58 PM
Apparently with uk support.

Stopping the tanker is in line with European sanctions against Russia but I’d like to know what the uk gets out of this?
Why is my MOD helping 🍊? What are we getting out of this?

The cretin stabs out posts saying how weak Europe (& NATO) is but he needed the uk today.
