Yes !
September 23, 2024 at 8:18 PM
Is it not open-source?
September 23, 2024 at 8:08 PM
I think Bluesky is boosting these posts abnormally.

bsky.app/profile/krac...

This just came in my discover.

Is it possible to see what feed it's coming from?

This is not the first message on that account.
Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #369,325!

How does it prevent tampering by the account owner.

Like, if I own my account and my PDS, what stops me from editing an old post?
September 23, 2024 at 7:24 PM
Off protocol DMs are just for the planned end to end encrypted chats if I understand correctly.

That's what I understood from 2024 protocol roadmap page
September 23, 2024 at 7:19 PM
Shouldn't I be following the feed or is it mixed in the feed.

I have seen other first and only posts with higher reach. But I haven't noticed whether this specific post which appears multiple times is the first post. I'll keep an eye.
September 23, 2024 at 7:15 PM
And point your PDS to use that I guess.
September 23, 2024 at 6:54 PM
Okay that seems like a single source of centralization.

I don't understand why it's necessary on this part.

Discoverability without specific profile or post is completely dependent on on AppView, no?

The discover feed, hash tag aggregation etc.
September 23, 2024 at 6:53 PM
I understand but feed and discovery through feed are a huge part of the network.

Why rely on Bluesky to be trusted at all?

Why can't AppView be hosted alongside the PDS? (Given sufficient compute is available).
September 23, 2024 at 6:49 PM
Why can't AppView be decentralized? Is there any inherent problem with that!
September 23, 2024 at 6:46 PM
Can you explain what AppView is?

Also, I saw my traffic on Firefox dev tools.

It's mostly PDS for my account and bsky cdn domains

Including the timeline (which is supposed to be part of the AppView am I right?)
September 23, 2024 at 6:44 PM
can you elaborate why??
September 23, 2024 at 6:41 PM
how do DMs work?
September 23, 2024 at 6:41 PM
Yeah references can be used to fetch it and cache

Pretty incredible !

But what happens if bsky.social domain goes down? Is the ecosystem ready to work without the official instances?
Bluesky
Social media as it should be. Find your community among millions of users, unleash your creativity, and have some fun again.

Caching on demand makes more sense.

Are the code bases of Android app and web client the same?

I would love to see the domains contacted while using bsky.
September 23, 2024 at 6:33 PM
How does this work in a decentralized way? Anyone can subscribe to the feed of blobs being created?
September 23, 2024 at 6:26 PM
Interesting. How does cdn.bsky.app work then?

It can't be DNS round robin as all PDS doesn't have the required media.

Is it just catching proxy?
Hey, I'm imgproxy!
cdn.bsky.app
September 23, 2024 at 6:21 PM
How did you get that?

This is the URI for the image as I see it.

cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_ful...
cdn.bsky.app
September 23, 2024 at 6:13 PM
Yeah, I'm guessing.
September 23, 2024 at 6:06 PM
I meant the media. I don't think it lives on the PDS.
September 23, 2024 at 5:55 PM
Yeah, media is just hosted on CDNs, so they are essentially just URIs.
