As far as knowing the temper I had the betta for a few months before the shrimp. He was in there with some hitchhiking snails and I didn’t observe any aggressive behaviors so I felt comfortable taking the gamble on shrimp. Ultimately and realistically it is always a gamble though so be warned.

Fed twice a day 3-4 pellets and hand dropped one at a time to make sure he find and eats them.

Depends more on the betta and its temper but as a precaution I make sure he has a strict feeding schedule.

It’s very interesting seeing interactions between predator and prey and how vastly the same pairings can vary. Fortunately my betta only chased shrimp for a couple days and never caught one. Now he just likes to investigate them and makes no attempt to catch them!

They also like to hide, my Amano disappeared for 2 weeks and when I finally decided she was for sure gone I added some cherry shrimp. Sure enough she came moseying out a few minutes after I added the cherrys!
