Things English-speakers might not know about some familiar French words:
“Éclair” means lightning. The pastry is called that because you eat it lightning fast.
“Baguette” means a stick. The bread is called that because it’s long and thin. Drumsticks, magic wands, chopsticks are also baguettes.
