I was dumbfounded. I guess she never considered the possibility that somebody could use her phone to scam her mom out of her bank acct number or something? I wish I could turn off the nagging feeling that somebody might try to take advantage of me. Must be nice. O_o /2

I can't understand the "we have nothing to hide" mindset, it has to come from a position of privilege and naivety. I met a girl in college who literally had her passcode set to 1111 (I caught it out of the corner of my eye, I wasn't even watching for it...) and she literally said that to me. /1

Yes, bc those devices are being used for surveillance against our will and without due process. (e.g. auto makers installed cellular modems in new cars and sell the data, which contains location data.) Purchasing a phone with the understanding that Big Brother is always listening is very Orwellian.

It's almost like we're on a platform with character limits and "Irish reunification" wouldn't fit in their post, but writing "Ireland" was enough for everyone to get the idea. Maybe you're technically correct, but you're no better than a grammar n*zi at the end of the day.

Sure, in a face-to-face context it's a lot different though. And a lot more uncomfortable. In that situation asking somebody to stop (over)sharing is the only polite option.
