Social media cicada, I post for a while, then disappear for years at a time. This place seems nice, maybe I’ll stick around this time. 🤞
Sometimes the product images on AliExpress are unintentionally great.

And we’re back. Apparently the fire was in the water next door.

Philly Fire Department does not mess around. It looks like it’s pretty much out.

Philly Maker Faire was just evacuated because the building next door is on fire.

I found this ad gross in more than one way. (That’s about $17.50 fyi)

I understand not having an elevator in a real village chandlers shop originally built in 1762.

But some new structures seem to have accessibility as an afterthought on instead of designed in.
The entrance to the ARoS museum is a long steep ramp of awkwardly dimensioned stairs.

The elevator from the parking deck at my hotel in Aarhus is themed like a pay phone. Though an MRI might have been more accurate.

Denmark is incredibly progressive but also has some of the least handicap accessible locations I’ve ever been.

A lot of it is justifiable because of old buildings.

One result of Amazon not being present in Denmark is that they still have very nice, very busy, department stores. I walked into this place and it looked gorgeous. I definitely want to check out the roof garden with that walkway. #arhus #dk

I rented a car for the weekend and am taking a road trip to Aarhus. Stopped at a travel center. It cost a dollar to use the bathroom. I feel like there would get destroyed in the US.

I went to a really excellent French restaurant in Vesterbro for lunch last week and was a bit shocked by the bathroom layout. You can see it's pretty fancy, it has cloth wash towels to dry your hands.
However I do not understand why there are two toilets. Both fully functional. #copenhagen

Went to Freetown Christiania today. It is/was a semi-autonomous zone. A little like Hamsterdam from the Wire. But a lot more hippy and commune a lot less violent.

There is a place called pusher street where the drug dealers set up.

There is an ice skating rink there called Pusherstreet on Ice

This piece was kind of neat. The colors change based on the emotion your face displays.

There are actually 53 different pieces. We only saw about a dozen in the city center.

The Copenhagen Lights Festival tour was a little chaotic but fun. It is day 2 of 28 so I think the guides will get the hang of it. Still totally worth it tho. copenhagenlightfestival.org/en/

Meeting spot for the walking tour I’m about to take of the Copenhagen Festival of Lights.

I was at an absolutely packed McDonalds in the middle of Copenhagen and the bathrooms were both completely empty and clean.
I’m sure things are feeling just as neat and orderly back home in the states, right? Right?

Learned a fact about Denmark. I was discussing with a neighbor at my coworking spot today about how I always want to call these lakes “the river”. She gave me a handy tip to tell the difference. If you’re in Denmark, it’s not a river. The whole country is too flat. There are no rivers.

Dim Sum for Sunday brunch? Or maybe join a cult? Life is full of decisions. Guess what I picked. #cph #copenhagen

I kind of dig the laundromat art though.

I saw this painting at the National Gallery of Denmark (www.smk.dk/en/) last week and saw this description. All I could think was: "They should get @soundoftheforest.bsky.social to fix it. She doesn't need to actually use real butterfly wings to make them look real"

My usual approach at home is just to throw the item in the dryer with a wet sock and a dryer sheet, and viola good enough.

Turns out I am not very good at ironing. I think I'm going to go to a laundromat for my next load. There is one nearby that someone has tried to gussy up as "The Dry Bar"
