I feel like I'm too old for fandom too 😅 But I'm no writer/artist so I'm not putting me out there and so I'm safe of scrutinizing. I just wish people would just enjoy themselves or move on if something isn't their cup of tea. And I think your analogy is something people really should take to heart:
