I paid ~$1600 for an E0800 Aprilaire dehumidifier & ~$1600 for a Gree Sapphire 9,000 BTU heat pump. I monitor electricity consumption, & the respective H2O outputs visually.

My estimates show the heat pump captures around FOUR TIMES MORE WATER per kWh than the dehumidifier!!

For me the original revelation came during my 2008 sabbatical when I read about learning curves at the same time as I was reading the IEA's world energy outlook.

Here's a short description of how and why I originally constructed the chart, for those interested.

Hi. I'm pretty sure I'm not a sock puppet. I'm a trombone player, engineer, human rights advocate, and devoted believer in science, philosophy, & evidence.

"My friend" was sincerely meant, I apologize if it came off as insincere or condescending. Happy to exchange arguments & evidence. Good faith.

My friend, please read a little more on this subject. You are flirting with right-wing talking points (in sheep's clothing). I trust that your social and environmental perspectives align with the scientific community and that you will give this a second look.

I love Blueridge/Gree especially the "Sapphire" 9k and 12k units. They are one of the lowest power consuming mini splits money can buy, they are quiet, and they work better when it's really cold. Wifi!

Don't buy Samsung. I have two: One freezes up, & the other one rattles and hums loudly since new.
