Down with smiling, dancing and listening to music to while away an otherwise difficult existence. Asylum seeking human beings should not be allowed to look as if they are enjoying any small thing...says no-one with an iota humanity. The Daily Express (and others)...determined to sow anger.

Wrong, Mr Streeting. If you're not comfortable with it, you know it's just not right. 20 years wait for ILR or citizenship. Families created in that time being deported to places the children have never been? Labour just keep pushing that Overton window rightward. As for the jewellery idea...💩

Down with badminton and other sports that might keep asylum seekers occupied, healthier and in a (slightly) better mental state. Who wants that kind of thing for human beings? Obviously not the Daily Express who would love us all to be more like their opinion pages.

I'm Scottish and my partner is English. He used to distinguish between us when people asked where we are from when travelling overseas. Now he just keeps quiet or says he's from Scotland, where we have settled. I often used to say I was British but now I only claim to be Scottish when in Europe.

If she has really seen the error of her ways, well that's to be welcomed. But call me a cynic, I just dont buy her Damascene conversion. This women said some of the most despicable, rabble rousing things about her political opponents. I feel that some of those people are giving her too much credit.

More performative cruelty in a bid to win over people who will always think Labour are mad socialist. They should be aiming to keep (or win back) their natural base, many of whom are progressive and centre left. They are taking people like that for granted but I doubt it'll help them.

Well done whoever is responsible. The headline is spot on.

🤔 Boohoo...it's all I've got left for him. 🙄🥱

I gave up watching BBC news programmes, including QT and the Sunday show, about 2 years ago. They were utterly unbearable in their pandering to the right. Robbie Gibb needs to be gone. Regardless though, we do need to defend the BBC. It's still important but it needs rebalanced.
November 11, 2025 at 3:48 PM
I just can't watch them anymore. I really hope this can bring about more even-handed, fair reporting.
November 9, 2025 at 8:23 PM
Correct, it is pathetic...but I'm glad he's gone. Terrible DG. I just hope he's replaced by someone who will be more independent and less supine...but I'm not holding my breath.

Robbie Gibb, Director of Communications for Tory PM Teresa May. I think him leaving would be key to dragging the BBC back from the news abyss. I haven't watched BBC news programmes for a couple of years now. I'd like to be able to return.

I'm glad Davie has gone but I'd prefer it wasn't at the behest of this nasty, vindictive, interfering America government. Still, it's an opportunity to rebalanced the leadership of the BBC. We need someone in there who is able to be much more apolitical.
November 9, 2025 at 8:04 PM
Glad he's gone but I don't think this should have been the thing that forced his resignation. Still, hopefully a turning point for the BBC...although I'm not convinced. He's not the only one that should be out.

Yup. A pathetic few million for a commonwealth country suffering the effects of climate change to the tune of billions, not to mention the catastrophic fall out for the people living there. I know the government is afraid of what the right wing will say but really, that's not an excuse. Step up.

Competition? Whatever has happened to that cornerstone of democracy and capitalism?
November 7, 2025 at 10:46 AM
They've got the first half of the label on the podium correct, I see.
November 7, 2025 at 10:43 AM
Wish he'd keep his ignorant opinions out of our business. He has no idea what's really happening in in our neck of the woods...that's Scotland.

WTAF is mostly what I think. Also, quite terrifying.

Seems a crazy way to determine whether or not people are living in the UK or not when there are so many other, more valid ways, like employment records. Also HMRC tracking your comings and going feels very big brotherish. Not one of their better ideas.

Almost every place I've visited over many years has had some sort of tourist tax. I cannot get my head round why anyone believes that adding a £5 charge to the cost of a cruise, for instance, will cause people to decide not to visit. Tourists should contribute to the upkeep of the places we visit.

Is he on Bluesky? I've searched but can't find him to follow?
October 25, 2025 at 12:36 PM
If only.
October 23, 2025 at 12:45 PM
Well, you should. It's an utter disgrace that they take public money and are never allowed to be called to account. Disgusting.
