I want to add I'm fairly new to metal's lore (and almost completely ignorant of archie metal) so I don't know if a scenario like this has ever played out, and if it has I imagine its basically just been option 1 or 2

4. (continued): with the whole neo sage thing happening online I would assume he survives into the future. In this hypothetical I think metal COULD (not will) finally be able to develop past his obsession with being the only sonic.

4. Error: Metal is meant to copy sonic so what happens when he dies? (in this scenario im imagining eggman is gone so basically his creator isnt there to give him a new purpose) I imagine he basically goes into standby mode trying to figure out what to do.

3. What now?: Metal's main objective is done so now what (i see as unlikely because neo metal)
